Wildfire Energy signs contract with Hitachi to trial mixed food waste

Wildfire Energy is pleased to announce it has entered into a contract with Hitachi Ltd.’s Water & Environment Business Unit to process mixed food waste at its MIHG (Moving Injection Horizontal Gasification) pilot plant in Brisbane, Australia to support the future development of MIHG waste processing projects with Hitachi.

Wildfire and Hitachi have been collaborating since March 2021, after Wildfire was named a winner of the Hitachi Innovation Challenge for the Circular Economy. The intent of the collaboration is to develop business opportunities utilizing Wildfire’s MIHG gasification technology together with Hitachi’s diesel engine technology in the food & beverage, food retail and other industry sectors especially in Japan and Australia.

Wildfire and Hitachi anticipate that the first set of pilot trials will take about 3 months to complete, with a potential second set of trials to be undertaken in 2023. Subject to successful outcome of the pilot trials and agreement of both parties, Hitachi and Wildfire might enter into an Alliance Agreement and work together to design and build a first project in Japan with project operations commencing sometime in 2024.
